Some other techniques are also described in the book. You may be lucky and find some other way to register the control. I suggest you consult a lawyer before you do this. I don't know what the legal ramifications are, but it would seem to me that you could borrow a copy, install and uninstall and not violate the license. You can immediately uninstall VB6 (you don't even have to run it)- the MSComm feature will remain enabled in Excel. That was to install the Professional or the Enterprise Edition of Visual Basic 6. In researching the topic for my book, I only found one sure way. Getting the MSComm control to appear in Excel or VBA can sometimes be a very difficult thing. ![]()
